Don Davis served 12 years on the Jacksonville City Council. During that time, he was elected by his colleagues to serve as President on two different occasions. He was selected by those same people to receive the Claude Yates Award as the most effective council member as well as the Charles Webb Award for outstanding service to the city council President.

The First Tee’s mission is to create affordable and accessible golf facilities to all people and especially youth.

Davis served as an at large member of the Jacksonville City Council for the past 12 years and helped shape the greatest economic growth decade in our city’s history.

Davis was appointed by the Florida Legislature to the local Government Study Commission which recommended our consolidated government to our citizens. The voters overwhelmingly approved the recommendation.

Davis served as Chairman of the Council’s Resource Recovery Committee which developed our current plan for disposing of solid waste. Northeast Florida’s recycling plan, recommended by Davis’s committee, is now #1 in the nation.

Davis played a major role in winning an NFL franchise for Northeast Florida and bringing us the Jaguars, a pre-season pick to win the Super Bowl.

Davis joined with his colleagues on the council and the mayor’s office to add over 300 uniformed police officers and 150 additional firemen for the protection of our citizens while reducing real estate taxes!

Davis was a key player in the River City Renaissance project which included an expanded zoo, the Times-Union Center for Performing Arts, the New City Hall at St. James, a renovated Florida Theater and the redevelopment of LaVilla, including the Ritz Theater.

Davis served two terms as President of the Tourist Development Council and provided crucial support to the Jacksonville and the Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau to make our area a tourist destination.

Davis was instrumental in approving a new inter-local agreement with residents of the Beaches communities which increased the level of services provided by the City of Jacksonville while lowering the ad-valorem tax rate for beaches property owners.
